Avangard: Chairman of the Board of Directors of GC Titan Mikhail Sutyaginsky spoke at Eastern Economic Forum about the development of inter-sectoral cooperation within the industry

Chairman of the Board of Directors of GC Titan Mikhail Sutyaginsky gave a speech during the business session of EEF Oil and Gas Processing: Economic Growth Driver.

During the meeting business and government representatives discussed the competitiveness of Russian projects for oil and gas processing, import substitution, creation of efficient petrochemical clusters and development of inter-sectoral cooperation relations.

The experts agreed that a systemic approach should be taken in order to address the issue of import substitution. It is necessary to have enough raw materials and personnel, to develop inter-sectoral cooperation, to have state support for anchor projects of the industry and social infrastructure within the territory of presence.

In terms of industrial cooperation, a number of projects are being implemented by GC Titan in the Avangard SEZ (Omsk) for the processing of petrochemical raw materials for the manufacture of import substitution products. Building a multifunctional complex for the production of polyethylene terephthalate, fibres, films and nonwovens is underway in the Moglino SEZ (Pskov region). The production of BOPET film (the first stage of the project) was launched in December 2022.

Mikhail Sutyaginsky also emphasized that it was necessary to be part of cooperation of the scientific community. Today, GC Titan is building an engineering center in Omsk. It will be a functional unit that not only develops and implements new technologies, but also enables collaboration with the country's leading scientific institutes and production sites. It will also help the company to take a systemic approach to addressing issues of personnel training for the petrochemical industry.

“Today, the conditions for the development of low-tonnage chemistry are being created in Russia. We see that a productive dialogue is forming between all the stakeholders – business, government, scientific community. In order to develop low- and medium chemicals production facilities, we need to invest in human recourses, new technologies, R&D, scientific clusters, and innovative centers. Most importantly, it is necessary to create the conditions to stimulate the consumption of these products in the domestic market and to take measures to create a talent pool in the industry,” Mikhail Sutyaginsky said.
