During a plenary session of the 25th international exhibition of chemical industry and science “Chemistry-2022” the participants paid a lot of their attention to the ways of the industry development against the backdrop of the sanctions. The event took place at the “Expocenter” in Moscow.
The plenary session was held on October 31 as part of the exhibition “Chemistry-2022”and the 10th Moscow International Chemistry Forum. It was attended by representatives of the largest enterprises, leaders of professional public associations, and members of the Russian parliament.
In particular, the meeting was attended by Mikhail Ivanov, Deputy Minister of Industry and Trade of the Russian Federation; Alexei Nechaev, Head of the "NEW PEOPLE" faction in the State Duma; Alexander Mazhuga, State Duma deputy; Maria Vasilkova, State Duma deputy, Chairman of the Expert Council on Development of Chemical Industry of the State Duma; Natalia Ermakova, Managing Director, Head of Industry Customer Relations of Sberbank; Mikhail Nikulin, General Director of Gazpromneft-Industrial Innovations, LLC; Eduard Davydov, General Director of Bashkir Soda Company; Ilya Vorotyntsev, Acting Rector of D.I. Mendeleev Russian Chemical Technical University; Igor Nechaev, Chairman of the Board of Directors of EuroChem; and Mikhail Sutyaginsky, Chairman of the Chemical Industry Committee of "Delovaya Rossiya".
Taking into account the current sanctions regime against Russia, the participants were interested in launching integration mechanisms and finding effective anti-crisis solutions.
The experts expressed their confidence that there will be a sharp growth of the domestic chemical industry in coming years due to the development of import-substituting productions. They also proposed action plans.
During his speech Mikhail Sutyaginsky noted that the sector of feedstock production for further processing would become a main vector of development: “As new sanctions packages are adopted, import substitution remains the main issue for the domestic chemical industry. The 6th sanctions package restricts export of about 80 chemical products to Russia. The next packages also continue to restrict import of products and raw materials. We should start substituting technologies which we have access to. It should be done as fast as possible, but it takes time, infrastructure, and special conditions to implement technologies that Russian scientific centers have”.
Therefore, the expert offers a solution to the task at hand. He highlighted a number of key areas for the development of small and medium-tonnage chemistry sector, which will help make our country independent from imports of chemical products.
They concern the formation of new production chains and industrial infrastructure on the basis of industrial technoparks, clusters and special economic zones. At the same time, industry participants and representatives of the authorities should search for new international relations and development of cooperation programs, improvement of the regulatory and legal framework, removal of bureaucratic barriers, implementation of programs to form a personnel reserve, as well as assistance in improving programs and measures of state support.
These specific proposals aroused serious interest in the professional community. In the future they can become elements of the road map for overcoming the crisis phenomena in the domestic chemical industry.
