Russian Union of Chemists and Chemical Industry Committee of "Delovaya Rossiya" work out solutions to personnel issues in the industry

The Chemical Industry Committee of "Delovaya Rossiya", together with the Russian Union of Chemists, held a meeting dedicated to resolving personnel issues in the industry.

The event was attended by representatives of federal executive authorities, experts from business, universities, and industry associations. They demonstrated their achievements in the field of solving the staff shortage in industry and, in particular, in the chemical industry. The meeting was moderated by Maria Ivanova, First Vice-President of the Russian Union of Chemists.

"Human resources issues are a systematic and extremely important work not only for companies, but also for all industry communities. Specialists in the chemical industry are trained by our profession-oriented higher educational establishments, adapted and developed by corporate universities. But there are still many unresolved problems in eliminating the manpower shortage in the chemical industry as a whole. From special mortgages for a young plant employee or corporate housing programmes to career support and measures of State support for corporate universities," Mikhail Sutyaginsky stated.

The head of the Chemical Industry Committee of "Delovaya Rossiya" outlined a number of problems facing the industry and called on the authorities, business and science to engage in the generation of effective proposals to overcome personnel barriers.

"The issues of chemical industry staffing attract more and more attention, and this is a problem that simply cannot be ignored, we as a specialized community see it and respond to inquiries from business, however, it is of particular note that over the past year the issue of chemical industry staffing is more acute than ever," - Victor Ivanov, President of the Russian Union of Chemists, noted.

After welcoming remarks of Artem Shadrin, General Director of Autonomous Non-Commercial Organization National Agency for Qualifications Development, his deputy Alla Faktorovich presented the achievements of the National Agency for Qualifications Development in the field of mentoring and internal personnel development:

"We are actively introducing best practices in mentoring to industrial companies, as this method of personnel training has proven to be the most effective. It helps a new employee adapt, develops corporate culture, and helps create natural knowledge transfer to preserve and develop the company".

Olga Semenova, Head of the Centre for Management and Development of the Federal Project "Professionalitet programm", spoke about the main project results and its opportunities for both big business owners and universities and colleges:

"The Federal Project "Professionalitet programm" is an important instrument for solving the personnel shortage in the chemical industry, it allows educational institutions in co-operation with production sites to receive funding from the state in the amount of up to 100 million rubles. This gives them the opportunity to train the required professionals for the industry".

Maria Ivanova noted in her report the need to build an effective link between the state, business and science to expand the practices of corporate universities:

"The time has come to launch a platform focused on the development of the chemical industry's human resources. We need a 'one-stop shop' to get information about possible career tracks, competitions, vacancies, trainee jobs and innovations in law-making," Maria Ivanova stated.

Following the results of the event, the participants agreed to continue the dialogue and exchange of best practices on the platform of the annual exhibition "Chemistry", having previously worked out the received proposals and requests from the companies.
