The "Omsky kauchuk" plant has launched the upgraded production for the processing of butane-butylene fractions

Within the working visit to Omsk region, Denis Manturov, Deputy Prime Minister of the Russian Federation - Minister of Industry and Trade of the Russian Federation, Vitaly Khotsenko, Acting Governor of Omsk region and Mikhail Sutyaginsky, Chairman of the Board of Directors of AO GC Titan, launched a butane-butylene fraction (BBF) or technical butane (BT) processing unit at the site of the "Omsky kauchuk" plant after modernization.

Production modernization will make it possible to increase the processing of technical butane fraction to 210 thousand tonnes per year. For this purpose, the company has equipped the production unit with new and modern control and automation facilities, carried out diagnostics and tests of the existing technological equipment, as well as purchased and installed new modern pumping equipment of of domestic manufacture.

Technical butane processing unit is designed to purify from the feedstock light hydrocarbons to be further separated into normal butane and isobutane. The target feedstock is isobutane, which is used to produce isobutylene required for the production of methyl tert-butyl ether. The purpose of the modernization project is to ensure stable high loads for the MTBE unit and to increase normal butane and pentane fractions output.

"Once the technical butane fraction processing plant reaches its full capacity, we plan to sell normal butane on the markets of Russia and friendly foreign countries," noted Mikhail Sutyaginsky, Chairman of the Board of Directors of the AO GC Titan.

It should be reminded that as part of this visit, Deputy Prime Minister also gave the green light for the construction of a low-molecular-weight polyisobutylene production plant.

"Both projects - alike the successful completion of the reconstruction of the technical butane processing unit and the start of large-scale work on the construction of polyisobutylene production - are important both for our region, one of the domestic petrochemical centres, and for the whole country. They are aimed at import substitution and contribute to strengthening Russian technological sovereignty. This task has been set by President Vladimir Vladimirovich Putin," Vitaly Khotsenko, the head of the Omsk region, commented.
