Ministry of Industry of Omsk region: Omsk Polypropylene Production Plant improves energy efficiency of production

The enterprise managed to reduce energy consumption by installing special insulation blankets on shutoff valves of steam pipelines.

At the end of 2018, thermal blankets were installed on shutoff valves of steam pipelines at “Poliom” plant as part of the large-scale investment project. The expected positive effect was obtained just in the first month of operation — the plant saved almost 400 Gcal of heat energy. The project was implemented by power engineers of the enterprise within five months. The products were supplied by a specialized Russian company, which manufactured 224 tailor-made valve blankets for Omsk Polypropylene Production Plant.

The use of valve blankets is the optimal solution to the problem of reducing heat loss through uninsulated pipe connections and fittings. This method is adopted at the largest enterprises of the industry. Thermal blankets made of polymer materials significantly reduce heat transfer with the environment and are secured using special fasteners, so they are quickly mounted and dismounted.

According to experts, the amount of heat saved through the installation of valve blankets is sufficient for heating a multi-storey building for one month. Their expected service life is minimum 10 years.
