Omsk State Railway University: Ceremonial mass meeting in honour of Knowledge Day

One of the main holidays of educational institutions - the 1st of September - came to an end at Omsk State Railway University. Rector S. M. Ovcharenko and honoured guests congratulated students and university teachers on the Knowledge Day:

• I. P. Chirva - Deputy Head of the Administrative and Personnel Administration of the Federal Railway Transport Agency;
• O. N. Smolin - Deputy of the State Duma, First Deputy Chairman of the Committee on Education and Science of the State Duma of the Russian Federation, Professor Emeritus of Omsk State Railway University;
• Е. V. Shapulenko - First Deputy Head of the West Siberian Railway, a branch of OAO "Russian Railways";
• А. V. Posazhennikov - Minister of Industry and Scientific and Technical Development of Omsk Region;
• N. G. Milovanov - Deputy Head of the West Siberian Railway, a branch of OAO "Russian Railways" for Omsk Territorial Administration;
• O. M. Khilko, General Director of Joint Stock Company "Territorial Generating Company No. 11", member of the Guardianship Board of Omsk State Railway University;
• А. N. Belyaev, General Director of Scientific and Production Association "MIR", member of the Guardianship Board of Omsk State Railway University, a graduate of our university;
• M. A. Sutyaginsky - Chairman of the Board of Directors of AO Group of companies Titan, member of the Guardianship Board of Omsk State Railway University;
• V.I. Novikov - Chief State Inspector of the Department for Control and Supervision of Train Traffic Safety and Railway Transport Operation of the State Railway Supervision Department of Rostransnadzor.

     Traditionally, on this day our university honoured first-year students. The Rector of Omsk State Railway University addressed all those present with a welcoming speech:

     "Opening the ceremonial mass meeting, first of all I would like to thank our guests of honour who came, despite their busy schedule, to congratulate our teachers and students. The most important thing a person has is knowledge. Soon you will have to replenish it. You have an interesting, rich and memorable stage in your life ahead - student life. It is not only study, but also sport, science, culture. Our teachers, trainers, heads of art groups, partners, all together as one team will help you to become good specialists, so everything depends only on you. I wish everyone who entered Omsk State Railway University to graduate successfully. Happy holiday, good luck and good studies!"

     I. P. Chirva addressed the first-year students with a commencement speech: "We hope that this holiday will become a reporting point on the way where you will become real professionals. You definitely have all the dispositions for it, you have entered one of the best railway universities of our country. Omsk State Railway University is rightly one of the leaders of our industry education. Addressing to the first-year students I want to say that you have made the right choice - to become real specialists, but under one condition - if you make maximum efforts. The University has all conditions - highly qualified teaching staff, laboratories and classrooms equipped with modern facilities, comfortable dormitories. There is everything to start your occupational way within the university walls. I wish you success, new knowledge, and the teachers - serious-minded students!".

     E.V. Shapulenko warmly congratulated the first-year students on the Knowledge Day: "Today the most important people at the event are the first-year students. Each of us, who addresses you with congratulations, tries to make this day memorable for your years of study and subsequent professional life. I have a special feeling for the staff and the university with the most powerful material and technical base. Special thanks to the President of the University I.I. Galiev. The university complex was created thanks to the efforts of Ilham Islamovich and his team. Sergey Mikhailovich continues to manage in the right direction. You have already made one important step in your life - you made the choice of profession and university. The university has everything for you to become highly qualified specialists and true citizens of our country. Today more than ever it needs railway transport engineers: the Eastern polygon and the construction industry are actively developing. The President of the Russian Federation announced in his decision to optimize the work on high-speed traffic, and the specialists that the University trains in the field of communications, power engineering, signaling, carriage and locomotive facilities will be in demand at the railway as never before. We are waiting for you. I am sure you will come and multiply the results shown by the Russian Railways. I wish success to the first-year students from the bottom of my heart and congratulate the university teachers on such wonderful young people".

     Evgeny Viktorovich presented the university staff with appreciation letters from the head of the West Siberian Railway - a branch of OAO "Russian Railways" for their diligent work in training specialists with higher education for railway transport. Also, in order to provide social support and financial stimulation to gifted, hard-working young people who achieved high results in their studies and scientific activities, the University Rector was given certificates of awarding scholarships of the Head of the West Siberian Railway for the students to present to them.

     In order to provide financial stimulation to young students to achieve further success in their studies, the Rector, based on the commission decision of OAO "Russian Railways", was given scholarship certificates of the General Director - Chairman of the Management Board of the holding company to present them to postgraduates and students of Omsk State Railway University.

     Our university received congratulatory telegrams in honour of the Knowledge Day from:

·        the Board of OAO "Russian Railways";

·        the West Siberian Railway, a branch of OAO "Russian Railways";

·        the Communication Workers Union of Russia.

     Students of Omsk State Railway University were awarded increased personal scholarships of the chairman of DORPROFZHEL at the West Siberian Railway, and also received grants from the Central Committee of ROSPROFZHEL.

     One of the most exciting moments for the first-year students was the presentation of a symbolic student card and record book, as well as making the freshman oath, in which students K. Kuznetsova and V. Vasiliev said their aspiration to study at Omsk State Railway University and swore to become professional railway engineers and work for the benefit of our country.

     At the end of the ceremony, the rector and the guests of honour laid flowers at the bust of A. A. Seryogin, the first rector of the university on the Omsk ground.

     The Knowledge Day at the University is over, which means that the first-year students have entered the adult student life. We wish them good luck in their studies and creative success!

     In honour of the Knowledge Day, an unscheduled academic council was held, where the university employees were awarded by order of the head of the Federal Railway Transport Agency, A.A. Druzhinin.

     The meeting was attended by guests of honour: I. P. Chirva, E. V. Shapulenko, N. G. Milovanov.

     By order of the Minister of Transport of the Russian Federation, the employees of Omsk State Railway University were awarded for their great contribution to training of qualified specialists for the transport complex:

• V. M. Pavlov, Senior Lecturer in Theoretical and Applied Mechanics, was awarded the "Honoured Railwayman" badge;
• T. V. Manokhina, senior lector in Informatics and Computer Graphics; was awarded the letter of acknowledgment of the Minister of Transport of the Russian Federation;
• E. A. Blokhin, Head of the Department of Omsk Technical School of Railway Transport, Yu. B. Grishina, Senior Lecturer in Environment and Safety, E. Yu. Korytkin, Head of Information Technology Department - were awarded the letters of gratitude of the Minister of Transport of the Russian Federation.

     By order of the Federal Railway Agency, I. I. Galiev was awarded the letter of acknowledgment from the head of Roszheldor for many years of productive work, significant contribution to the training of qualified specialists and scientific personnel for the transport industry.

     I.P. Chirva presented a letter of appreciation and a valuable gift to Ilham Islamovich and noted: "I am sincerely grateful to meet I.I. Galiev, from whom I have learnt and adopted many things in my life. Since 2000 I have visited the university many times and have seen how it is transforming. The words of deep gratitude for the internal interior, internal stable situation within the team - it is all the merit of Ilham Islamovich, his team and certainly the current rector. It is impossible to express all our gratitude to the work he has put into the university during his life. I wish you health and all the best. We do not say goodbye, but start working in a new format".
