Rupec: GC Titan may double the capacity of future polyisobutelene production

GC Titan is considering the possibility to double the capacities of low-molecular polyisobutylene production facility which is currently underway.

The company began construction of the facility with the capacity of 10 000 tones at AO “Omsky kauchuk” in July 2023.

“Due to Russia's high import dependence on low-molecular polyisobutylene, we are going to produce 10 000 tons of the product with further expansion up to 20 000 tones,” Chairman of the Board of Directors of GC Titan Mikhail Sutyaginsky said.

According to Mikhail Sutyaginsky, the company will produce almost the entire product line of polyisobutylene – from low- to high-molecular polyisobutylene – for the production of oils, additives, polyisobutylene-based products and further processing. When we achieve the designed capacity we will cover 100% of the country’s low-molecular polyisobutylene needs. A domestic technology will be used for the production.  

As of today, more than 90% of low-molecular polyisobutylene is imported.
